No stone: Tropical cyclone Fehi

Tropical cyclone Fehi came ripping through here last week.

Not much rain – 20mm in a couple of hours – but massive northerlies coupled with 8 metre swells and a king tide.

Which meant that instead of a 4.3m high tide, we got close 5.5 metres.

50 houses along the coast uninhabitable, roads still impassible, waterside restaurants munted.

The wharf here at Mapua disappeared under water.

Get used to it, people.

This is the new normal…
