Accuracy

In the process of getting quotes for some vertical blinds for the cottage. Called up one place, gave them measurements – 245cm vertical, 195cm horizontal – someone’s going to call back.

Now, you have to know that they deal in millimetres around here.

They’ll sell you potatoes in kilograms (aka kaygees..), not grams and speed limits aren’t in metres per second, but rather km per hour, but use centimetres at your peril.

Wendy calls back and says – I kid you not – “Are those dimensions in centimetres or millimetres?”

I pointed out that in millimetres, we’d be looking at the standard size of a piece of paper, so yes, centimetres.

“But so what you REALLY want is 2450 by 1950 MILLIMETRES…”

That’s right, Wendy.

About 2 and a half by 2 metres…..
