Funky stuff from Fran Maquire

Fran Maguire’s a ceramic artist from Blenheim, currently exhibiting at the gallery at Woolaston Vineyards in Mahana.

We were introduced at the goodnatured scrum that is Friday evenings at the Golden Bear on Mapua Wharf at which time she invited us to the vernissage on Saturday afternoon.

Quite a fine event, with free wine (rare enough these days….) and nibbles and an excellently balanced display of ceramics and graphic art.

Told her that her work reminds me very strongly of Grayson Perry’s exhibition at the British Museum at which she beamed.

Does, though.

Bumped into her a couple of days later at the Moutere Gold in Upper Moutere – she was the one who suggested we raided Katie and Owens chook house… – and got an invitation for a glass of wine in Blenheim.

Raincheck until November, OK?
