So what do we do now…?


There might be baristas in Nelson/Richmond/Mapua who can do a double espresso as well  (only Guy McCracken at the Cafe on Oxford really comes close), but no-one gives you the feeling of being REALLY welcome as these two – Ali Slotemaker and Stephen Lee.

They split their year between the Rabbit Island Coffee Company – a very-much-enhanced 20′ shipping container on Redwood Road – and Cairns, where they have a roastery and cafe.

Could be perfect – they could open a day before we arrive and close a day after we leave, but alas, we have a month before they arrive and 2 weeks after they leave to find an alternative.

Guess that’s what you have to put up with when you go with the best.
